Russia May Consider Returning Snowden to US as a Favor to Trump

The rumors are that Russia is considering turning over the NSA leaker as a "gift" to Donald Trump.
Trump has called Snowden a "spy" and a "traitor" who deserves to be executed, and now the US intelligence services have collected information that a Snowden handover is one of various ploys to "curry favor" with Trump. The intelligence has reportedly been gathered since the inauguration.
As for Snowden, his lawyers said they were unaware of any such plans, and Snowden himself said that it proves that he did not work with the Russian government, since no country would trade away spies, as the rest would fear they're next. Snowden's Russian lawyer denies the very possibility of such turn of events, saying that there are no reasons to extradite Snowden to the United States, and Russia is not the country that sells people.
In the meantime, former deputy national security adviser urged the Trump Administration to be cautious in accepting any offer from Russian President, because returning the spy would be a win-win for Russia. The US Justice Department said it would welcome the return of Edward Snowden, who is still facing federal charges that carry at least 30 years of jail time. Putin spokesman called talks about returning Snowden "nonsense."
Edward Snowden was working as a contractor at a National Security Agency where he stole top-secret documents that he allowed to publish in 2013, exposing details of the US domestic surveillance programs. After this, he fled to Hong Kong and ended up in Russia after being charged with violating the US Espionage Act. Russia granted him refuge and residency permit until 2020.
