Zyxel completely redesigned the management portal, which now consolidates all security policies in a single location.
Secure broadband networking and Internet access specialist Zyxel introduced its latest series of Unified Threat Management (UTM) systems, offering firewall and virtual private network (VPN) capabilities as well as deep packet single socket layer (SSL) inspection. The anti-malware capability is the result of a partnership with security specialist Kaspersky, and the appliances also offer granular social networking control with application intelligence. Other features include anti-malware protection and social networking control, with the UTM product line including the Advanced Series (USG110, USG210 and USG310) and Performance Series (USG40, USG40W, USG60 and USG60W). The Advanced series is designed for small to midsize businesses (SMBs) that require always-on network protection. The Performance Series, including wired and wireless UTM gateways, offers an integrated security solution for remote offices, retail locations and small businesses."Zyxel’s UTM line has tackled two major issues that SMBs are facing with security solutions: Maintaining high system throughput, even with security services turned on, and streamlining systems management with a simplified user interface," said Steven Joe, executive vice president for channel business for Americas at Zyxel, said in a statement. "They offer huge performance benefits, along with an innovative, integrated management interface that simplifies security provisioning for SMBs and solution providers."
A multi-core processer helps businesses meet the growing demand for high bandwidth applications, while high availability helps mission-critical network and VPN deployments get always-on connectivity through a three-tier high availability (HA) design, which is a multi-WAN, VPN HA and device HA configuration. To help small businesses enforce policies more easily, Zyxel completely redesigned the management portal, which now consolidates all security policies in a single location. In addition, the unified management interface also offers single point of control for firewall, IDP, anti-virus, content filtering and application control. Another key feature is a wide local area network (WLAN) controller built into the USG gateway to meet the growing demand for secure WiFi networks. The WLAN management component is also integrated with security management to help businesses set up a secure WLAN network, and boasts the built-in WLAN controller. Finally, application intelligence technology identifies, categorizes and controls more than 3,000 social, gaming, productivity and other Web applications and behaviors to help prevent bandwidth abuse and boost productivity. In addition to the UTMs, the company introduced a solution package with security, warranty and technical support for its channel partners. The series will be available with a one-year manufacturer's warranty, and an additional one- to three-year warranty will be available for a nominal price to customers and channel partners for resale. One to three years of fee-based expert technical support will also be available from Zyxel, and details on pricing for security services, warranties and technical support services can be attained through contacting the company, a release stated.
